Lovely Ol’ Job – a fresh take on a proper British bitter.
Say hello to Lovely Ol’ Job, our latest seasonal release, available on cask for a limited time only. Freshly brewed and ready to pour, this is one not to miss.
A modern take on a classic British bitter, Lovely Ol’ Job brings together traditional character with a fresh, hoppy twist. It’s the newest addition to our annual seasonal range, crafted with care and expertise.
Few know their ale like our Brewing Manager, Bruce Ash. With more than 30 years at Woodforde’s – and as one of just 29 accredited beer sommeliers in the UK (a title he earned in 2013) – Bruce has spent decades refining both the art and science of brewing exceptional beer.
With Lovely Ol’ Job, Bruce has created a 4.7% English pale ale that pays tribute to the rich heritage of British brewing, while embracing the floral, aromatic qualities today’s drinkers enjoy.
“There are so many hoppy beers around at the moment, and they’re all fantastic,” Bruce says. “Beer styles go in cycles, but there’s always a place at the bar for a proper bitter – and that’s exactly what I wanted to create.
Lovely Ol’ Job is copper in colour, with a smooth, rounded malt sweetness. The hops bring a distinctive herbal, slightly minty aroma that really sets it apart.”
Bruce has been part of the Woodforde’s team since 1987, earning multiple awards for both his beers and his contributions to British brewing.
“I’ve always been passionate about beer,” he says. “There’s nothing better than seeing someone enjoy a pint you’ve brewed. From selecting the right hops and malts to that final pint pulled in the pub – it’s something I take real pride in.”
Like all of our seasonal range, Lovely Ol’ Job is available on cask for one month only. Don’t miss your chance to try this limited seasonal release.

Pint of gravity at the Lytton Arms beer festival. Fantastic colour in the glass, a deep mahogany, and a really rich flavour. More of a bitter than a pale ale, but what do I know. This is pretty good, but still a bit warm.
