Bernese Hazy IPA - Year One
Nelson is our Bernese mountain dog. A professional charmer and a bear-cub-sized forever-puppy.
He was named after Nelson Sauvin, one of my favorite hop varieties. A beer starring both Nelsons was inevitable. This is not a typical single-hop Nelson beer since it contains as many as four Nelson varieties.
Starting point was Eggers Nelson Sauvin, next up were the special lot from FreeStyle Nelson Sauvin and the Kohia Nelson 2025 blend. THe finishing touch was, fresh Nelson Cold Press Hop Juice.

Pours hazy orange color with half a finger of frothy white head. Dank and citrussy aroma. Dank, citrussy, tangerine, orange, peachy, herbal, some white grapes note. Medium body, dry finish.

Tap at Split Beer Fest. Hazy yellow-golden body, off-whtie head. WHite grapes and light lemon in the aroma. Citric taste, white grapes, light tea notes, creamy. Quite nice!

On tap at Rijeka Craft Beer Fest 2026, shared with Hrabren. Hazy yellow/orange coloured, medium sized off-white head, citrus and light dank in the nose. Citrusy, dank, light herbal and touch of tangerine with mild notes of grapes. Juicy and easy-drinkable. Dry bitterish finish.

On tap at Rijeka Craft Beer Fest 2026. Hazy orange, small off-white head. Aroma is lightly hoppy, peach, apricot, orange, tangerine. Flavour is fresh NZ hops, peach, herbs, malts. Medium body, moderate carbonation, dry finish.
