Rich notes are present and able in this Extra Special Bitter. Warming flavours of molasses and roasted malts are first on the scene, thanks to the Black Malt, followed by a respectable bitterness attained from premium British hops.

Cask at The Chiltern, Beaconsfield, 06/06/2026.
Light mahogany brown topped with a beige head ... good full glass lacing follows.
Nose is biscuit, dark malts, toffee, dates.
Taste comprises fruit cake, brown bread, biscuit, nutty, dark malts.
Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close with a mellow bitter edge.
Solid cask offering.

Pint of cask in the local. We went to view an art show on the local estate and it wasn't my thing. But we went home via the pub and I had this in the shade of a tree in the pub garden enjoying the late spring weather. Perfect. Beer was very good, really rich malts with some balancing bitter hops. But an emphasis on the sweet malts. Perfect temperature and perfectly kept, but abv too low to be a true ESB. Still lovely.
