Behold the origin story—this is the beer that started it all. Black Calder’s Thee Black IPA isn’t just a brew; it’s the genesis of a flavor revolution. Crafted with a masterful blend of Idaho 7 and Mosaic hops, it perfectly marries tradition with innovation.
Imagine a deep, soulful bass of roasted malt and cocoa notes laying down a foundation as rich and steady as a timeless blues groove. Then, a bright, crisp, unexpected citrus verse erupts like a perfectly timed drum break, echoing our heritage’s resilience and creative spirit.
Every sip is a lyrical journey, a poetic nod to black excellence that’s as smooth as jazz and bold as the history it honors. It’s deeper than hops; it’s a crafted story in every pour, inviting you to immerse yourself in an unmistakably original rhythm of flavor and legacy.

16 oz can dated 26-Feb-2026. Pours a very deep brown with an of-white head. Roasty malt aroma hinting at hops. Flavor has roasty, slightly smoky maltiness blended with some grassy, citrusy, piney hops. Nicely smooth, not at all aggressive. I like it.
