This double black as night IPA is too massive for one brewery’s efforts. Blakkr took the trinity of Real Ale, Surly, and Three Floyds to actualize this crushing ale. Cheers.

Admin Note: This specific version was brewed at Three Floyds and available on tap and in 22 oz bomber bottles. For other versions, see Surly and Real Ale databases.

Bottle: Pours almost black with a thin, dark tan head. Burnt wood, chocolate, citrus-peel, light smoke aroma... Taste is orange-peel over dark, roasted coffee/chocolate bitter....licorice. Creamy, smooth...nice mix of sweet and bitter. Excellent.

Bottle courtesy of iphonephan, shared with Ajax25g on the Orange Line. Drank from the bottle, so appearance description is limited to noting that it has a cool label. Aroma, even from the bottle neck, is fresh pine trees on a background of coffee grounds. Taste starts roasty, with fruity pine. Nice example of the style. My 100th Indiana rating, thanks most recently to iphonephan and shrubber85.

On tap at the brewpub in Indiana it is a dark brown color with a slight head. The aroma is resin and malt. The taste is a very strong bitter licorice that resonates on the palate
