Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color ale with a medium size foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma consists of deep roasted malt with bitter hops. Taste is not as complex as I would have hoped with some roasted malt notes that are pretty dominant and a hops profile that is bitter but limited in complexity and not as dominant as I would have expected. Body was quite full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Not as hops-centric as expected and not something I would purchase gain considering the price tag.

On tap at Jose Pistolas, Philly - 24/05/12. Dark brown with a frothy beige head. Bitter hop nose - piney, earthy, grapefruits. Taste matches nose allied to some roasted malt notes. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, smooth finish. One of the better Cascadian darks I’ve had.

Tap at the stags head. Pours a deep dark brow. With purplish tan head. Nice nose of floral and citrus hops and cocoa. Tastes of roasted malts, dark chocolate, toast, pine, herbal, light coffee, caramel, and grapefruit. Creamy and silky mouthfeel with long finish. Nice bitterness and easy drinking could of had more than 10oz no prob..

Pours deep mahogany into a Sam glass. Mocha conglomerate head with good retention recedes leaving spot lacing to coat surface. Sweet spring flower, heather and chocolate aromas. Dry with dark chocolate upfront turning to a lasting sweet milk chocolate and bitter espresso finish.

Thanks, Mike! Dark brown with a thin caramel head. Spicy aroma with lots of hops and a subtle dark malt accent. Strong, with lots of alcohol. Creamy body. Hints of woody hop bitterness with also a lot of sweetness and light toffee notes.

Pours a solid dark brown/black with the faintest of garnet highlights when held to light. smallish off white head leaves lots of lace on the way down. Smells of pine and resin with bits of grapefruit and roast. Taste is a bit sweet and roasty with caramel and chocolate but with lots of pine resin and citrus. Medium body with a light level of carbonation and a sweet resinous mouthfeel. This is a great beer, I really enjoyed it. Hoppy porter, black ale, ipa, ah who cares its good.

Bottle. Pours black with off white head. Nose of papaya, roasty chocolate malt, dusty cocoa and light vanilla. Taste is the same sans papaya which is replaced by an abrasive hop bite on the palate. The hop bite mellows as the bottle sits. Medium body.
