Razz Wheat is a classic local favorite originating from the brewpub in Athens, Ohio. Natural raspberry puree is added during fermentation giving this beer a unique and playful personality. The rosy haze and sticky head embody a continuum of sour sweetness held together by a wheat back bone.

Pours lightly hazy orange gold with a minimal off white head . The aroma is of raspberry and some bready malt. The flavor is on the sweet side some raspberry, but it’s not strong. It has a bland malty character. This is quite meh, a reminder of why I was unimpressed with many American fruit beers for so long until they started making tart/sour varieties.

Ever so slightly hazy pink and light copper coloured body with a very thick, and billowy, seven centimetre tall, very nice and microfoamed tan head that stays afloat for a long time. Aroma of fake raspberries, fake sugars, grass, grain, flowers, earth and a light dose of wheats. Light to Medium-bodied; Relatively strong and pungent artificial raspberry and apple flavours dominate, and show an odd and unimpressive profile that isn't refreshing and only showing the deep fruit and bitterness that leads to some moderate cloying notes and some assertive astringency. Aftertaste shows the wheats, a light hit of flowers and some funky artificial sugars, but the raspberry and apple flavours are not front and centre any more, which I consider a good thing, since the tastes weren't too refreshing and not enjoyable doe rhe style. Overall, a very funky and not-too-pleasant beer that shows some wheat and fruits, but both are far from their best and almost aren't worth having at all, considering they aren't great. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from the Department of Beer and Wine in Alexandria,  Virginia on 28-August-2020 for US$2,42 sampled at my house here in Washington on 28-September-2020, exactly one month after purchase.

Can from Craft Brewed. Pours a clear ruby red with a finger of off-white foam that dissipates. Raspberry forward nose with cherry and strawberry aromas that stand out. Some light grainy malt notes as it warms. Crisp and clean and lots of bright cherry notes on the palate. Not sweet or cloying at all. A nice fruit-forward, jammy fruit roll-up note on the finish that lingers. --- Beer merged from original tick of Razz Wheat on 27 Oct 2018 at 20:07 - Score: 7. Original review text: Lots of raspberry, ? & ?in the nose w/ some grainy notes. Crisp and clean w/ more ? on the palate. Dry, w/ a fruit roll-up finish.

12 ounce can into pint glass, canned on 10/10/2016. Pours very hazy pinkish golden/orange color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Good appearance. Aromas of lightly tart raspberry, pear, apple, wheat, cracker, and biscuit; with lighter notes of banana, bubblegum, clove, pepper, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of pale malt, fruit, and light earthy hop/fruity yeast notes; with solid strength. Taste of lightly tart raspberry, pear, apple, wheat, cracker, and biscuit; with lighter notes of banana, bubblegum, clove, pepper, honey, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate yeast spiciness and light herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of raspberry, pear, apple, wheat, cracker, biscuit, pepper, clove, light banana/bubblegum, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice robustness and balance of pale malt, fruit, and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; with a good malt/tart/spiciness balance, and slight lingering astringency after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitter/spiciness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, crisp, and fairly creamy/grainy/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is good. A bit thin on body. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.5%. Overall this is a good fruited American pale wheat ale. All around good robustness and balance of pale malt, fruit, and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink. A little too oddly spicy/drying with slight lingering astringency; but still very drinkable and nicely enjoyable for the style.

Sampled from a 12 oz can this beer poured a dark bronze color with a large creamy-soapy white head that left good lacing. The aroma was tangy, sweetish and had a vague berry note. The flavor was tart and tangy with faint bread, a touch of phenol, and faint vague berry. Medium length finish that turns dry. Medium body. Disappointing.
