Draft at the source. Deep maroon color, huge fluffy briwn head. Aroma of vinous dates, figs, burnt caramel. Taste is cocoa, boozy dark fruit, dark butterscotch. Tasty.

Sample at the brewpub. The beer is a slightly murky ruddy brown color with a medium foamy khaki head that recedes gradually to a wispy film. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, hops and citrus. Full-bodied and chewy with flavors of caramel malt, resiny hops and grapefruit. The finish is moderately bitter with a citrusy hops aftertaste. Solid commemorative brew overall.
