Glass Pome is three-way beer, cider, and perry hybrid.

The beer portion is a blend of three spontaneously fermented pale beers made from malted barley, oats, wheat, and cane sugar. Brewed in Spring and Autumn 2024, these beers spent a relatively short 18-24 month in barrel and were chosen for their clean, bright profile and dry finish. This allows room for the aromatics from the apples and pears, as well as cutting down their assertive tannins, to produce a delicate and poised palette.

The cider portion is a wonderful Yarlington Mill single variety from Tom Oliver. Yarlington Mill captures so much that is great about west country cider apples: floral and fruity, spice and vanilla, generous tannin and plenty of weight.

The perry is a blend of the truly incomparable traditional perry-pear varieties found in the west country. Also from Tom. Elderflower, lime, body, acid, sweetness and unmistakable mouth filling tannin. Just enough is used in the blend to wipe the palette clean ready for the next sip.

Why? Because, the taste.

Bottle. Mills online shop. Hazed glowing orange gold. Beautiful swede is slim dense glossy and lasting. Looks boss. Nose has petrol forward apple pomace. Lots of rough skinned apple and pear. I’m going for red wine as the barrel used. Mills bugs. All that. Taste is juicy sweet and light bitter. Drinks like pop. Juicy lightly tart finish. Lots going on here but stays easy drinking.
