Part of the Edgar Allan Poe series. Your first experience is visual from the rocky white foam and lace, and then through extended dry hopping your senses pickup the citrus/flowery bouquet. The initial taste is subdued, but gradually becomes intense without any harsh bitterness. This American IPA is well balanced where the malt is as part of the flavor profile as that of the hops.

Poured from a bottle it is a clear golden Colorado with a white head. The aroma is citrus and the taste is a light citrus flavor that gets stronger as it resonates on the palate

12oz bottle. Poured a clear, copper color with a medium sized off-white head. Aroma was some light sweet malts, with some solid caramel backing. Some citrus hops in the nose. Flavor is well balanced, not overly bitter. Pretty enjoyable.

12oz bottle split with Anndiesel. Filtered orange-tan, some chill haze. Thin, respectable head. Malty, think, resinous aroma..kind of old school. Approaching IIPA in some respects, very big malt tones, kind of full and resinous on the palate. Comes across a little brutal and one-dimensional. Rindy citrus hop character. Tolerable, but not one I’d revisit.

Pour is a copper with a large white head. Aroma is sweet malts but has plenty of hops. Flavor is more of a malt aspect than hoppy. Hops are here but that sweet malt takes over everything. Finish is more sweet malt and maybe even some dark fruit. Ok beer. Nothing really bad just not as hoppy as would have liked.

Location: 12 oz bottle from State Line, 5/20/13, as Tell Tale Heart (not Hearty), but otherwise it has the exact same label, I guess they got rid of the "y"

Aroma: This one has a nice hop aroma of citrus and pine with some caramel undertones
Appearance: Pours a hazed amber-orange color with a mid-sized off-white head and heavy lace
Flavor: The flavor is similar, it is a little sweet, and has a nice, big enough, hop presence as well
Palate: The body is medium, mildly sticky, a little chewy, with average carbonation, and a dry finish
Overall Impression: Though this beer did not have the eye of a vulture, I thought this was a pretty tasty IPA. It's true to the style, and has a very solid hop presence to it. I wasn't previous familiar with Baltimore-Washington Beer Works, but after this one, I will gladly try more of their beers. Nice stuff for sure.
