"It has the colour of onion skin", said a voice behind me.
It was Raymond Coumans.
He was admiring the colour of the raspberry lambic reflecting in the red copper of the buckets used to empty the barrels. At that time (1986), "Raspberry-Lambic" already was synonymous with a sweet, artificially flavoured beer. This is why we decided to distinguish our beer from the other raspberry beers. Raymond proposed to call it a rosé, dedicated not to Bacchus but to Gambrinus.
The process to make this beer is identical to the one to make Kriek. When young, the Rosé de Gambrinus will still present its full fruity taste. Later on, the lambic taste will become dominant at the expense of the fruit taste.

Old bottle, see the other rating. Amber red chestnut. Slightly metallic, dry, fruity funky. Very tart. Fruity dry. Not for drinking, but for sipping. Good for the evening of a hot summer day, especially if you follow up with a freshly baked orange pudding dessert.

Opened this 20 year old bottle after it started leaking through the cork. clear red amber with lovely golden hue, lightly pinkish head. Sour hay, light ensilage and leather. fruity/flowery farm. Sparkly, fizzy despite the seepage. Fairly sour on the palate, dry on the tongue, acidic, not completely puckering. Sour fruits, a bit vinegar, certainly still raspberry in the finish. Not one for mass consumption, but a fun sour fizz.

Bottle dated 2 August 2022. Massive fruity and earthy aroma. So wonderful. Flavor is raspberry and overt. Viscous and velvety. This beer is wonderful.

Slightly less satisfying than the 2025 I just opened. We were gonna drink this for dessert but my friends' kids got in the way. I had to drink it all by myself, what a pity 😉

Delectable. Probably the freshest bottle I've had.

Hazy deep red with a one finger tall airy pinkish head turning into a dense layer. Fresh raspberries, basement, barnyard, funk, leather, vinegar, lactic acid. Spicy & grassy notes. Bone dry. Heavy sour. Light bitterness along. Excellent.
