Drift Line was designed to bring an extra dimension to a standard American-style Brown Ale. Starting with a base of imported Pilsner malt, we add several English crystal and chocolate malts to develop some of our favorite flavors reminiscent of an oatmeal stout, but left out the roasted malts to keep it a Brown. Toasted oats add body and smoothness, while our house ale yeast ferments to a clean dry finish. We balance the complex malts with just enough hops to keep it form getting too sweet. Drift Line is perfect for when the long days of summer turn to the shorter, colder days of early Autumn here on the coast.

32oz growler from the brewery pours a murky brown with some spitty, tan head. Nose has cracker and malt, some soap, a little pine, some tea leaves, a little Tootsie Roll. Flavor is a bit tannic, black tea, light caramel and nougat, pine, soap. Watery finish.

Growler from Blend Bar in Hamilton, NJ. Translucent dark brown color with a small creamy beige head. Rich cocoa malt aroma with nutty overtones. Upfront, earthy toasted hazelnut maltiness. Yes, you can taste the oats. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel. There is a nice influx of resiny hops in the finish. Long dry aftertaste. Quite a nice Brown Ale. Very flavorful and drinkable

Location: Draft at Texas Arizona, 1/3/13

Aroma: The nose has some chocolate and caramel malts, nutty notes, and oats to it
Appearance: An opaque dark brown pour, with a creamy light-brown head, and mid-heavy lace
Flavor: A mid-heavy malt flavor, lightly sweet, and similar to the nose, with an earthy, light bitter finish
Palate: The body leans full, with a creamy feel, it is fairly smooth, and finishes dry and roasty
Overall Impression: I thought this was a really solid Brown with a nice mouthfeel and some good heft. Well-made and pretty easy to drink. Nicely done.
