12oz bottle. Hazy golden-tan with a thin, foamy head. Sweet honey malt aroma. A Belgian Pale is such a non-style I’m not sure what to make of this one. Certainly more along the lines of a Belgian Golden Ale. Soft, mellow carbonation and an herbal hoppy balance. Not really "extreme", so hard to judge sort of. Rather well executed, clean and drinkable. OK.

12oz bottle from the state store
Appearance: Clear yellow/amber with a small white head and some lacing
Aroma: Belgian candy and sweet malts
Taste: Candy, yeast, sweet/spicy malts, banana and clove
OK beer, but nothing to write home about. Much better than the 4% version when it was first released.

This beer poured with almost no head, even though I used a glass that elicits lots of foam usually. Its a clear pour, no murkiness near the end, so it seems like a filtered product. There are small and sparse visible bubbles traveling throughout the beer. The aroma hits you strong with a sweet Belgian yeast and candy character followed by a hefty clove character. It is not subtle, it hits your nose and sticks around. A bit of a malted cereal character just sitting back there as well. Taste is candy sweetness with lots of esters in there. The esters are not distinct, some light banana, some light bubblegum, just a general ester character. Finishes of drier than expected, but not dry. A slight herbal character as well. A faint hop character is felt in the light bitterness at the back end to round it off. I can see why this beer gets such low ratings but this is my type of beer. In general I like the Belgian character and when it is a bit too sweet its still fine. Again, I like the right kind of overly sweet beer and a Belgian sweetness is alright by me.
12oz, bottled on 09/03/08, couldn’t tell it was that old, in a Duvel tulip glass.

Draught at Papago Brewing Co., Scottsdale, AZ
Deep blond color. It’s a simple one, with very light aroma, but the flavor has some of the Belgian spiciness, and correct bitterness.

Location: Updating with a 12 oz bottle from State Line, 10/25/12
Aroma: The nose has some Belgian yeast, spice, floral notes, and a little bit of banana
Appearance: It pours a cloudy golden color with a lasting white head and fairly heavy lace
Flavor: The taste is medium sweet, with some balancing spice, and a light hop presence
Palate: The body is medium, it has a tingly mouthfeel, and a fairly sticky finish to it
Overall Impression: I think I enjoyed this one more the second time around. It is a little too sticky sweet, and maybe even a little cloying, but it isn't a bad beer at all. Also, 3+ years later I've now had quite a few beers from the state of Utah (28 ratings, and they have all been either Uinta or Epic, so I know Utah has at least 2 breweries!)
Updated Rating (2012) - 3.4: 7/4/6/3/14
Location: 12 oz bottle from Brickskeller, 7/31/09
Aroma: Yeasty, banana, clove
Appearance: Hazy golden color, thin white head
Flavor: Mostly sweet and yeasty, bit of balance there too
Palate: Light to medium in body, dry finish, decent mouthfeel
Overall Impression: I believe this to me my first beer from Utah. Who knew they made beer in Utah? This one is alright, drinkable, but not highly memorable.

Courtesy of douglas88. A Belgian Pale Ale, eh? Let’s see. It pours hazy deep gold with thin white head. The aroma emits cloves, grains, banana, yeast, spice, a touch of grapefruit and coriander. The taste is an even balanced mix of cloves, yeasty spice, banana, sweet tangelo, faint grapefruit, ripe green apples and a light coriander note. Into the finish it dries up a bit while grainy malt notes come to the surface. Well executed and refreshing brew.

Bottle from douglas88, or if not, from ericandersnavy. Thanks to both you guys. Indeed it does seem to have a hefe aroma. Hazy gold color with a slight white head. Medium plus body with sharpish carbonation. Flavor is typical Belgian, but more so than usual. There’s a big dose of kandi, clove, hot spice bits, and arguably even banana. Finish is pretty dry, and the pepper notes stick around. It’s a good one.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Marked 9/3/08. Pours with a hazed yellow body and a vanishing white head. Aroma of wheat and a few citrus hops. Taste is melon, and a bit spicy and fruity. Fizzy and dry.
