Rather light and plain pumpkin ale, tastes almost like a pumpkin lager ala Lakefront Brewery Pumpkin Lager, but maybe a little creamier. It’s just OK.

Moderately strong mushroom and clove aroma. Clear amber, thin white head. Flavor of pumpkin but only enough to accentuate the barley malt. Light on the spices but it does finish with a very slight dusting of cinnamon and nutmeg. This is such a refreshing departure from most pumpkin ales. It isn’t in your face with the the pumpkin or spice, nor are those ingredients used to mask poor beer. The beer is the focus, and gosh darn it, I like that. Went well with oyster stew. Beautifully crafted!

Bottle, $1.80 at Wine Warehouse, Charlottesville. Clear orange with an inch of off-white head. Smells of pepper, pimpkin, and spice. Flavors of spice and pumpkin. Bland, but OK.

12oz bottle. Fairly light golden orange color, a tad hazy. Light spicy pumpkin aroma. Crisp, full on spice. Not as malty or full bodied as some pumpkin ales, and with this one, it works out quite nicely. Smooth, balanced, and drinkable. Lasting pumpkin pie spice aftertaste. Above par, but a notch below the top-tier of it’s completely deserved subcategory peers.

This ale??? poured a light yellow colour with next to no head even after a vigorous pour. Scents include spices, pumpkin and ??? First taste was smooth and spicey but not over-bareing. Finish is also spice, nutmeg and cinnamon at the front. Eventually the palate turns to a slightly bitter flavour, after the cinnamon finally gets out! Had much better pumpkin ales before...

Draught at Brickskeller, Washington DC
Blond color, big head. It has a delicate aroma of cinnamon cookies. Smooth mouthfeel, with a quite evident cookie and cinnamon flavor. I don’t understand where the pumpkin is, and I just reject the concept of Halloween beers.

Draft from Northern Virginia BrewFest. Pours a copper color with a moderate sized white foam. Slight pumpkin aroma, with almost minimal amounts of spice. Flavor was slightly disappointing - not bad, but certainly not up to the aroma or flavor that I’ve had of other pumpkin beers. Decent enough - not offensive.

12 oz. bottle from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville. Clear pale amber color with a one finger head. Pumpkin is strong in the aroma as are the spices. The pumpkin lends a very nutty flavor to the beer, and the spices are there still fairly strongly. Medium bodied and quite interesting.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy bright golden color with a small white head. The aroma was dry and spicy with notes of cinnamon and nutmeg. The flavor was dry and spicy with strong cinnamon and nutmeg elements. The spices completely dominated this beer and leave very little "beer" like flavor to be detected.
