Ahh, Citra Pale Ale. There’s a reason so many refer to you as “old reliable”. One whiff and game over… you’re in love. With American two-row barley, a touch of Vienna malt and an intentionally irresponsible amount of Citra in the dry hop, this is the definition of a true West Coast Pale Ale.

Draft - Lots of citrus peel. Clear gold with a nice white head. Citrus and a nice quick bit of bitterness. Simple but nice.

Bottle - thanks Andrew! Pours pale clear golden, large white head, dissipates fairly slowly leaving nice residual and lacing. Aroma is faint overall, notes of citrus, tropical fruit, guava, pine. Flavor is light sweet, light bitter lots of cereal malt, pine, some tropical citrus. Lightish body. Solid, but lacking pop.

Dark golden Amber color. Fairly straight forward pale ale where the Citra doesn’t shine so much. decent balance and bitterness but pretty uneventful.

Enjoyed at gabf 2014. It pours with a, wow, brilliant shiny clear gold body that supports a light tan head. The aroma is mild with a bit of sweet malts and spicy onion as well as something else going on in the background that seems a little berry like or juniper maybe. Interesting. The taste is smooth and hoppy offering up a pleasing mix of malts and spicy to grassy to a faint lemon grass hoppiness. Wow, smooth drinkable and plenty of deep hoppiness going on above the malt backbone to make me happy.

Sample at GABF 10/04/2014, thanks to my BIL for assistance with note-taking. Hazy bright yellow-gold color with a medium thin white head that evaporates quickly. Spotty lace. Citrus, hops and malt in the nose. Light-bodied with flavors of grassy hops, grapefruit and biscuit malt. The finish is mildly bitter with a fruity hops aftertaste. Decent overall.

Bottle. Pours a clear yellow orange with no head. The aroma is strong citrus and resin. Medium mouthfeel with nice fruity hop and light dry bitterness. Very good.
