Hardywood Saison Rustica is a fresh, flavorful French Saison (Bière de Garde) brewed a heavy dose of malted rye, French Strisselspalt hops, and a touch of peppercorn and star anise.
Hardywood Saison Rustica complements the season's change when crisp autumn air and vibrant foliage bring a sense of rustic joy to spending time with friends outdoors.

Poured hazy yelllow, lots of white head. Black pepper and lemongrass tend to predominate here, a little bit of anise. Pretty decent though light for a saison.

Sample at the DBLDP on 08/31/2014. Pours a clear dark amber color with a medium off-white head that evaporates steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lacing. Citrus, yeast and spice in the nose. Light-bodied with flavors of herbal yeast, citrus and malt. The finish is fruity with a yeast aftertaste. Decent overall.

What I would call a session saison. An easy drinking bland beer with a touch of hay or grass. Pours cloudy pale with OK head and lacing. Finishes with light bitterness. Some crisp grain. Tap at whole foods.

Location: 750 ml bottle from my Dad, 1/19/14, Thanks for the Hardywood hook-up Pops!
Aroma: The nose is floral and spice/pepper, with some bready notes, citrus, and a little grass
Appearance: It pours a cloudy golden orange color with a small white head and some drippy lace
Flavor: Tastes much the same, with the spice a bit more prevalent up-front, and a grassy finish
Palate: The body is light-medium, it has a clean feel, soft carbonation, and a shorter duration
Overall Impression: Overall, I thought this was a pretty good saison, but not a stand-out in the style. Still, at such a low ABV it still packs plenty of flavor. Very drinkable and sessionable.

750ml bottle I picked up at the brewery pours a mostly clear gold with zero head. Looks flat. Bottle had zero pop when the cork came out. Herbal nose, lavender, soap, coriander, lemon, briny. Flavor is sweet, honey, lavender, lime. Clean finish. Not bad, just flat.

C&C 750 mL bottle from the brewery. Pours a hazy amber color with a medium sized frothy white head. Good head retention. Aroma of floral, herbal hops, spice, pale malts and a faint bit of honey. The taste is earth, anise, herbal notes, mild tropical notes, pale malts and some pepper builds at the very end. Medium bodied, lingering spice, low carbonation, fairly delicate.
