Draft pour into shaker pint glass. Aroma is roasted malts. Appearance is virtually black (dark red--mahogany--when held to the light) with 1/2 finger-width light brown head with fair retention and minimal lacing. Taste is mix of sweet and bitter roasted malts with some smokey/ash. I wouldn’t say there’s chocolate or coffee but the roasted quality suggests the mix you’d get with these. Palate is medium bodied with creamy texture, average carbonation and dry, mild roasted finish. Overall, enjoyable across the board and not too heavy.

She pours a dark brown/close to black color and leaves the same colored body with a one finger foamy white head that dies at a nice pace and leaves some nice lacing sticking cleanly around the sides of the glass.
The smell has some roasty coffee forward Brown Ale-ness that pulls out some toast and toffee, faint bitter hops try to come through but maintain a nice background.
The taste takes the previous flavors and adds a nice dark fruitiness to it, also there seems to be an element of Coca Cola coming in. There is a long dark sweet fruity Coca-Cola like aftertaste and a dry sweet sticky finish.
On the palate, she sits about a medium on the body with a decent sessionable quality to it. Carbonation runs pretty smooth and coats the tongue and mouth nicely.
Overall, roasty and malty like a Brown ale that is normal for its style, but the hops that are said to be in are extremely subdued.

Poured a mostly pitch black color, with a off-white head. Aroma was roasred, bitter chocolate notes, with roasted malt notes. Flavor was dark roasted chocolates, malts. Not bad.

Bottle from Hampton Falls Market, a nice beer spot. Black color, fine brown head, solid lacing. Aroma of hazelnuts, earthy toast, subtle cocoa. Taste is earthy cocoa powder. Not bad.

On tap at Southern New Hampshire Brewers Fest. Enjoyed in a 2 ounce glass. Brown appearance, half a finger head. Scent is has this amber brown ale scent that’s close to Fat Tire. Taste is sweet with tea leaf dryness. Caramel and some cheap candies from the drug store at the finish like candy corns maybe? Medium body.

Pours a solid dark brown with brilliant ruby highlights when held to light. Creamy beige head shows moderate retention and lace. Smells of caramel brown sugar with a hint of chocolate and licorice. Earthy almost herbal hops break through the sweetness to provide a bit of balance. Taste is pretty much what the aroma promised. Caramel and brown sugar flavor up front give way to a bit of grass and earth. Finishes with a bit of chocolate and hint of ash. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a silky creamy mouthfeel. Solid brown ale with enough flavor to keep me interested. If they would put it into 6 packs I might consider purchasing it more often.

22 oz. bottle Purchased at Smiley’s Beverage, Dover, NH. Nice mahogany pour with quickly dissipating head. Not much for lace. Aroma of caramel, toasted nuts and perhaps some cocoa. Lightly sweet with more nuttiness and roasted malts. A very light hop bitterness in the finish. Enjoyable, well-made Brown ale.
