Caligo Lupu is a blend of a Nevel-made Farmhouse Ale and a three-year old Gerste from HenkeBier dry-hopped with Saaz.
When Nevel announced they were calling it quits, we figured we’d give them a hand; clearing out their barrel stock and do something fun while we were at it. We bought a full barrel of wild saison and gave it the HenkeBier treatment; we blended in some of our own beer, then dry-hopped it with fresh Saaz hops. The result is a blend of wild saison and classic Dutch gerste, aged for around three years in oak. After that, we gave it a big, bold dry-hop with Saaz for a few extra weeks. Bottled on the 13th of August.

Bottle. Color: Hazy golden, white head. Aroma: Fruity, white berries and some lemon, funk and oak. Taste: Following the aroma. Quite smooth mouthfeel. Nice herbal / floral hoppy backbone. Medium body, just below average carbonation. Moderate tartness, light bitterness. Nice and refreshing.
