Sample at the Long Beach brewpub. This beer pours a brownish-black color with a medium creamy tan head that recedes gradually. Patchy lacing on the glass. Roasted malt, chocolate and caramel in the nose. Light-bodied with a roasty malt character and notes of chocolate fudge and mild hops. The finish is roasted malt and chocolate. Decent overall.

Old, old, old backlog from the first batch. Pours with a black hued body and a tan head. Aromas are roasted, toasted, oaty, chocolate, earthy, dry, nutty, light molasses, highly kilned toasted malt (special roast?). Medium dry with a complex protein malt-oat character. Lightly raisiny, leathery, dry, roast, chocolate. Medium to fuller bodied, dry, medium to medium low carbonation.
