Our winter warmer, an English-style old ale, is dark brown with a rich malty sweetness, notes of fruit and molasses. Bah humbug!

Sampled at the brewery. Pours a clear mahogany with a ring of white head. Nose is very sugary, caramel, a little under attenuated, smoke, clove, Belgian candy. Flavor is the same, heavy clove and candy, some orange, pepper. Reads more like a Belgian strong dark to me. Sweet finish.

Bottle from the source. Deep clear amber color, medium off white head. Aroma of lightly toasted caramel. Taste is caramel and subtle fruit. Not bad.

Growler picked up from the General Store. Poured a slight mahogany brown color with a medium sized tan head. Aroma was sweet caramel, malts, touch of brown sugar. Flavor was a bit toffee, caramel. Overall a bit creamy, relatively enjoyable.

Served on draft at the brewpub. Pours a slightly hazy reddish brown color with a large tan head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel malts with some banana notes. The taste is toffee, banana, toasted malts and a bitter hop finish. Medium-full bodied.
