Bottle bought from the brewery. Cloudy rich yellow orange colour with small golden head that soon goes. Aroma is grainy, touch the bananas and cream you would expect, quite Belgian yeasty smell too. Something herbal in there too. All in all, quite subtle though. Taste is very nice, not as much sweetness as you might expect from a Weizen. Nice fruitiness, not too full on. Bit of banana and some berries too maybe. Slight citrus bite. Lots of graininess. Slight carbonation, but nice and full bodied too. In my opinion, every Zakko beer I've had has been a winner.

Tap @ Keyaki Beer Festival Autumn 2017. Pours nice white, hazy, decent foam as a weizen should have. Nose has cloves, soft yeasty character, medium intensity, earthy. Taste follows in the same vein, nice creamy texture, weizen yeast has done its work well, medium bodied, everything is in its place. Some earthy fruitiness. Probably one of the best wizens I have had - and I have had this one several times before, always consistently great.

Draft from Keyaki Spring 2015. Hazy deep straw color with a nice creamy off-white head. Big aromas of banana, clove, bubblegum and wheat all present. Perfectly balanced on the palate, some hefeweizens in Japan tend to lean a little to the sweet side, but this is not sweet at all. Very drinkable. Great finish. --- Beer merged from original tick of Weizen (雑穀ヴァイツェン) on 09 Aug 2015 at 00:31 - Score: 7

On tap at Beer Keyaki Spring 2014. A slightly bizarre pinkish cloudy orange, not too appetizing. Very yeasty clove nose. Medium bodied with a smooth creamy full mouthfeel. The taste is spicy cloves, a bit yeasty rich with just hints of banana.

very cloudy, lots of cloves. Very estery, a touch of rye. Full bodied, a touch of variety of grains in the mouth. Almost cloying, but keeps balance. Full bodies. Very enjoyable, slight twist on a weizen.

Draught at the brewpub. Pretty orange color, quite dark, with a fine, lacy head. Rich wheat aroma with some citrus and grains. Rich, thick wheat flavor balances by grains and a tart edge. Banana, clove, lemon. Lovely—really rich and tasty, but different, grainy cereals add a nice touch. Wonderful.
