A traditional bitter with a modern edge, brewed with British malt and hops. Firm bitterness is balanced by layered malt character, bringing notes of dark fruit, treacle and burnt toffee, with a dry, moreish finish. A straightforward, well-made pint built for proper drinking.

Cask at The Wheatsheaf Inn, Wetheral. It pours clear amber - copper with a thick, fluffy white head. The aroma is musty, toasted nut, toffee, brown bread, cereal, dried fruits, florals and spicy. The taste is firmly dry, bitter - sweet, some bitterness, toasted nut, cereal, woody, leather, tannin, chewy and toffee with a drying, toasty finish. Average body and moderate, velvety cask carbonation. Decent enough bitter.
