Tap at the brewery. Golden colour, off white head. Aroma is really floral, crazy. Taste is strange, bit salty maybe, floral again, very strange but nice. Slight bitterness. Really interesting so extra points!

Draft at Keyaki Spring 2015. Amber with a modest off white soapy head. Biscuit aromas with sakura and grain. Sakura flavor is there but not overbearing. Slightly sweet without being cloying. Some lemon zest in there as well. --- Beer merged from original tick of Sakura Mankai Lager on 16 Feb 2016 at 22:29

Bottle direct from the brewery, 500ml for about 650 yen - a decent price. A wonderful amber brown pour with a thick light beige head & a HUGE Sakura Mochi sweet aroma. Very sweet, a touch of cinnamon it brings to mind the Kyoto speciality Sakura Yatsuhashi. Medium bodied with a slightly rough carbonation the taste is straight up Japanese sweets, cinnamon & Sakura with a Mochi (rice cake) breadiness. after warming up some biscuity malt notes come through. It finishes on an earthy vibe, pretty good but that initial flavor punch is quite sweet & if you aren’t a fan of cinnamon & Sakura Mochi you probably won’t enjoy this. But for a taste of Japanese Spring Hanami Parties this is pretty damn good.

dark amber color. Spicy, almost gingerbread nose but closer to Sakuramochi. The mouth is light, malty, unsweet. Spicy finish. Really pleasant with lingering gingerbread finish.

Draft at the source. Cloudy red color, massive thick white head, solid lacing. Aroma of sweet floral cherry syrup. Taste bittersweet, herbal and fruity. Fascinating.

Draught at 2012 GJBF Osaka. Deep amber-light brown with lace. Aroma of cherry, sakura mochi. Big sakura mochi flavor, a little caramel and grape (I would guess it has pickled cherry leaves added). Light hops. Really interesting with rich, tasty malt and good flavor. Nice but not really my thing.
