An American style Imperial Porter with raspberries and cocoa nibs. The floral raspberry jam aroma is bright at first, and after a few minutes the toasted pumpernickel and earthy notes come through. Still loads of jam on the palate but here the cocoa nibs show their dark chocolate flavour. The dark malts add notes of espresso and liquorice. Smooth body with just a touch of hot alcohol, medium bitter and medium to low carbonation.

Strong raspberry nose. Deep dark ruby brown colour, small fizzy short lasting tan head, no lacing. Aroma raspberries, raspberry jam, rumbonen, alcohol, faint dark chocolate. Fruity taste, light heavy sweet and light bitter, sweet malt, raspberries, cherries, milk chocolate, candy sugar, alcohol, smooth mouthfeel. Full-bodied, sticky texture, soft carbonation, fruity sweet aftertaste, some bitterness and a bit sourish, raspberries, milk chocolate, alcohol, woody notes, a rich and round Imperial Porter, delicious.

Super dark and deep brown coloured body with a thinnish, single to perhaps two centimetre tall rich brown head. Aroma of soy sauce, rich molasses and caramelised sugars with a bit of a chocolate note, but a lot of coffee and smoked peat at the tail end. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong rich malt flavours at first with a lot of earth, pungent grain, a lot of chocolate, some bitterness from nuts and soy sauce and ending with a lot of pungent and assertive robust malt flavours. Aftertaste shows a lot of chocolate, some lighter sweet notes from pitted fruits, but mostly a deep and bitter funk from the chocolate, alcohol and soy sauce 'off-flavours' with a dash of very light raspberries and blueberries noticeable at the end, battling through all the deep flavours. Overall, a nice and extremely potent beer that shows a lot of malt, but even more pungent flavours, but ended up quite nicely, but the age probably helped out a good deal. I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased from The Brew Shop in Arlington (Clarendon), Virginia on 27-April-2017 for US$12,49 sampled at my house here in Washington on 30-June-2019.
