Road trips are balls-out adventures loaded with unexpected twists, just like when this beer hit black ice and got spun!. It started out as an IPA recipe, but halfway down the road it blew a tire and a Pilsner yeast was pitched as a spare; an IPP yo! The fiery Pilsner backbone adds a nitrous-like boost to the van load of hops that would make any German pucker up when those hop afterburners singe their lederhosen!

12 oz. bottle. Pale gold pour, with a small, off-white head. The aroma is pilsener, with some hay, and very light resinous hops. Sweet flavor, with a bit of sharp bitterness in the finish. Light body, with a hard, crisp, and pretty lively mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer, for the style. Very understated and sessionable. Not my kind of beer.

Fairly standard seasonal from Sweetwater. More in line with what youโd expect from a summer beer, what with the strong lager overtones (despite what yeast is used.) A mild fruitiness from the malts offsets the grainy middle, but the pilsner comes through strong on the finish. Yet this aggressive end doesnโt pair well with the mild front of the beer. Eventually Road Trip begins to disappear in the rear view, left in the dust with all the other well-intending but average American pils (see how I tied it all together with a reference to driving? Iโm a good writer!)

draft at ATL-Hartsfield airport. pours medium golden, thick white head. aroma, definitely some pilsner yeast, cardboard / moldy nose of yeast and some bready malts. flavors, dry finish, light floral, smooth and creamy vienna flavors, mix of citrus hops and bready malts that remain a little weak on the palate.
