From the tradition started by the monks of St. Francis of Paula in 1634 comes this warming beer of rich heritage. A dark, rich lager of sublime complexity and character, St. Victorious is created from multiple German malts. Laborious decoction mashing yields the choicest elements of the malt. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a mahogany color with a medium sized brown head. The aroma was sour, tangy and had a hint of chocolate and a vegetal undertone. The flavor was malty and roasty with a hint of dry chocolate and molasses. The finish was long roasty malts and molasses.

Pours a pretty dark red/brown with a tan head that sticks around for a short time. Malty, sweet, and alcohol aroma. Taste has a bite of alcohol sweetness to it. Not particularly thick, but has a bunch of roasted flavours going for it.

12 0z brown bottle, pours medium dark brown with no haze. The head is a tan girdle around the inside of the glass, in the middle of the brew it is a froth. Sweet, raw aroma hints of powerful flowery perfume. The taste is malty, malty with hardly any roastedness. Alcohol is unfriendly to the tasted buds. Low carbonation and a higher viscosity greets the palate. Sticky syrup sickly oppressive bitterness medicine blasting the uvula. Curiously argumentative, must taste to experience. Finish is above average unfriendliness. Date code is 1634. How can a lager be so difficult? No where near Weltenburger Kloster Asam Bock. Samuel Adams Double Bock is even better than this for flavor.

Pours bright mahogany into a stem glass. Offwhite micro head subsides with slight lacing to hug rim and skim surface. Chocolate and caramel aromas. Slick with front-to-back dark caramel and dried fruit. Lasting creamy malt to hop finish.

12oz bottle Enjoy by Jul27 06-pours a creamy tan head with deep red color. Aroma is sweet caramel malt. Taste is powerful, rich sweet caramel malt, roasty, secondary hops. Good carbonation. Good occasional beer.

Aroma of caramel and malt; standard for a bock. Quickly fading head. Dark brown with light red tint. Medium sweet and herbal dryness. Medium body and bread in the aftertaste. Near the top of its style, but it can’t touch Optimator or Salvator.

bottle sample at Dark Lord Day - Pours dark brown with a caramel malt nose. It tastes of light roasted malt, kind of sweet, and has some alcohol presence. The finish is lightly hoppy.
