Chapter III: The Pirate’s Barrel
From the golden shores of Jamaica, this barrel has sailed across stormy seas, carrying the spirit of the Caribbean to the distant isles of Scotland.
Clear ruby-red hues are hidden beneath a cream-colored foam head. The aroma is typically bock-like, with inviting notes of fresh bread, a hint of smoke and a pleasant sweetness that gently caresses the nose. The taste opens with a sweet touch from the rum, followed by a subtle smokiness from the whisky, complemented by a light alcoholic warmth, a hint of sweetness and a slight bitterness. The mouthfeel is full, rich and beautifully balanced, while the finish is characterized by fresh red fruit that lingers pleasantly and invites for each next sip.

25 February 2026. At Slot Oostende, Goes. Shared with the lovely Anke!
A: clear amber, stable, frothy, off-white head.
A: toffee, candied plum, tobacco, green tea.
T: sweet plum & red apple, bitter tea, biscuit.
F: herbal hops, tea leaves, raisin, nuts, some tobacco, warming rum alcohol.
P: medium body, slick texture, soft carbonation.
Lacks a bit of body and 'oomph' given the ABV and barrel blends.
