The Brown Ale style originated in the pubs of England, where beer drinkers desired a beer that was both flavorful and complex, but at the same time mild enough to be a session beer. The Santa Fe Brewing Company's interpretation of this style uses a combination of high mash temperature, hard water, and low-alpha acid hops to produce a product that is both true to the style and distinctly Santa Fe. Brewing jargon aside, Santa Fe Nut Brown Ale is an easy-drinking beer, mild, smooth, and always a favorite. Try a keg at your next party!
Malts: 2-row pale, 30-37 l. Carastan, Chocolate
Hops: Willamette

12oz bottle pours amber with copper hues and thin tan head. The aroma is full of malt earthiness and nuttiness as well as sweet malts and some fruity esters. The load of earthiness and nuttiness almost gives it an oxidized sensation. The taste has sweet malt mixing with a slight malt roastiness and slight drying astringent sensation to go along with growing nutty and earthiness to midway and into the finish. Around the edges are wafer thin rings of sweet dark fruity esters.

Bottle. Beer of the month club. Clear brown color with a small beige head. Nice aroma of nutty malt, some caramel, toasted bread, chocolate notes and a touch of hops. Sweet malty flavor with lots of nuts, caramel and a drier, slightly toasty and slightly hoppy (somewhat herbal) finish. Medium-bodied. Quite decent.

Bright amber-brown. Toasty and a little bit nutty. The palate is mostly toasty. Sort of thin, with an almost crackerlike dryness in the finish.

12oz bottle. Attractive cherry-brown, thick and murky, with a respectable beige head. The aroma is crisp, with a pronounced chocolate tinged nuttiness. Medium bodied, some caramel toffee tones. Clean and well executed, captures the style. Some mild berry tones in the malt. Mild soapy hops. Straightforward, inoffensive, OK.

Big thanks to Bavarian Purity for this mild enjoyable nut brown. Smell is laid back. First taste is a little smoky. Rather smooth and friendly. Darker brown in color. Good sizzle on the palte. Easy to drink with a whispy finish. Much better than many recent nut brown ales I’ve had.

Bottle from ericandersnavy - thanks! Pours ruby/brown with no head. Smells like roasted caramel of the brown ale type. Medum body with very smooth carbonation. Flavor is roast malt with very mild hop. Finishes quite smooth with a touch of chocolate. Washing down a hot link very well.

12 ounce bottle courtesy of Sparky27. Thanks! Pours a clear reddish brown color with a medium head. Poor head retention and lacing. Nutty aroma with notes of toffee and fruit. Something a little offputting is there. Taste is very similar but with a metallic note. Seems a bit off. Medium bodied.
