Bottle. Hazy dark brown color, small beige head. Nice aroma, subtle sweet spice, vanilla, whiskey, coffee. Taste is boozy coffee and herbs. Not bad.

Location: Draft at the Brewpub, 11/21/12

Aroma: The nose is heavy bourbon/oak along with some dark malts
Appearance: It pours a hazed medium brown color with some light lace
Flavor: This one is dominated by the boozy flavor with some light underlying malts
Palate: The body is medium-full, with a soft carbonation, and a fairly hot finish
Overall Impression:  Booze overpower a bit, and takes away from the enjoyment. Lacks the balance of a great barrel aged beer. Not bad, but not a favorite for me.

I had this in the bottle and I had been warned that some bottles had infection issues. I think mine was one of them. 750ml pops and doesn’t gush but threatens to. Pours a slightly watery, translucent deep brown with some thin, sudsy, fading beige head. Nose has a ton of dark chocolate, some dried citrus, orange, toasted malt, toasted bread, a little licorice. Fairly mild nose. Flavor is way off; pickles, crayons, chocolate, dry grain, burnt licorice, plastic. The finish is watery but has some heavy carbonation which is the worst kind of pairing. A big miss.

Woemwood, sweet coffee nose, with subtle chocolate notes. Cloudy brown, white flakes, medium yellow head. Tastes as it smells, but with hints of orange. Medium body, light fudge finish.

C&C 750 mL bottle from Whole Foods Market Charlottesville. Best by March 2013. Pretty major gusher. Pours a dark brown color with a large rocky dark brown head. Good head retention. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malts, something astringent and bitter, faint citrus. The taste is big chocolate notes, citrus, that astringent note again, some roasted malts. Medium bodied, astringent, harsh, high carbonation. There is something off here, which is a shame since its been on the market 2 whole days.
