The Eagle and Child, English IPA dal Grado alcolico 5.6%, malti Simpson Maris Otter, Crystal Light e Amber a costruire una spina dorsale leggermente biscottata ma molto scorrevole, e una luppolatura che mette insieme East Kent Goldings, terroso ed erbaceo come da tradizione, e il Chinook, uno dei nostri luppoli preferiti. Una India Pale Ale, con quel carattere old world mai dimenticato.

Deep, slightly bright orange; pretty hazy, a bit too much for an english ipa. Average sized white head, shows good enough retention but scarce lacing. Average intensity in the aroma with sweet leaning fruity notes (orange and tangerine, with a jam-like feel to them) and a floral, slightly herbal hoppiness over a delicate, softish, slightly biscuity maltiness. Taste notes more or less follow the aroma: softish malty base, again with a very delicate biscuity touch, dry floral notes with a touch of herbal presence, taking a slight edge over fruity notes, which are now less prominent than in the aroma. Maybe an earthy hint in finish/aftertaste. As for sweetness/bitterness: balanced in the mouth, a delicate bitter edge in a quite dry finish/aftertaste. Light to medium body, light to average very fine/delicate bubbled carbonation, resulting in an easy mouthfeel with some of the plush feeling that is typical of modern leaning ipas. Overall: a classic english ipa in terms of taste profile, not entirely in terms of body/mouthfeel; all in all quite fine.
