Two weeks ago the guys at Uinta decided to try something new, take one batch of Wyld Extra Pale and do a special, one of a kind edition.
For this special edition Uinta acquired a shload of fresh Simcoe hops, enough to average 4lbs of hops per barrel of beer ( 1 beer barrel = 31 gallons). The result, we hope is one citrusy, resinous and sessionable sombitch!
The "wet" in Wet n’ Wyld refers to the state of the hops. Most hops are dried to eliminate weight and spoilage, these are fresh off the vine, wet as nature made them.
Wet n’ Wyld is draft only (no bottles) and will be available at the breweries pub and those pubs and bars that tend to give a shit about good local beer.

Draught from eastern district. Golden pour. White head. Strong simcoe aroma and taste.

Hazy dark straw with white head that patterns down. Grassy perfume hops. Taste is grassy, orange and yeast. Slight cracker.

One of the early highlights of the beer festival. Pours cloudy light orange with good head and lacing. Some light bretta and some sour apple/cherry feel. Some hops and mash malt. Ingredients mix well. Finishes with light tangy sourness. Tap at DC Beer festival.

On tap at Paradiso Dupont. Pours a clear orange with some cloudy white head. Nose of orange, a little garbage, malt, vegetal. Flavor is sweet, malt, spice, orange, carrot, honey. Clean finish. Nose is not good but overall ok.

12oz can pours with a clear deep copper body that supports a nice off white head. The aroma offers up citrus hop notes, a light sense of dry malts, a sliver of lime and a faint earthy tea note. The taste is pretty crisp. I get citrus grapefruit and tangerine mixing with a lightly roasted malt note and then it seems to grow into a faint earthy black tea like hoppiness. Into the finish a mild cereal malt graininess joins and takes this into the after taste. Nice Pale. Just the right amount of depth yet plenty refreshing and sessionable.

On tap at the Bayou. Pours a clear golden color with a medium white head. A nice nose of floral hops, some earthy malt. Wasn’t as good as the regular Wildfire/Wyld: clear crisp flavors, light oranges, caramel. Quite light. Of course we need to keep in mind that this is a 4% IPA. Drinkable for sure and pretty tasty.

Draft, wet hopped version. Clear amber color, medium white head. Aroma of citrus and pine. Taste is bitter pibe resin and grapefruit.
