Bottle shared thanks to Mrk. Hazy orange golden with some floaters. Peach, worst honey, massive alcohol, gin, wodka, vegetables, marzipan. Quite sweet with alcoholic bitterness. Full bodied. Not very good.

Slightly hazy golden coloured body with a very thin, single centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of pure yeast with a lot of bread and unfinished sugars noticeable here along with some light hops and a bit of wort. Medium to Full-bodied; Sweet flavour up front with some caster sugar, light hops, earth and pungent grassy flavours showing some bitterness and herbal elements as well. Aftertaste shows some lighter grain elements, some floral notes and a lot of unfinished sugars that come through along with the bitterness from the alcohol and funk. Overall, a decent at best beer that shows a lot of pungency, some very strong flavours with some unfinished sugar notes, some herbs and funk and a lot of alcohol pungency as well. I sampled this stubby 33 cL bottle puchased not in Belgium (luckily, I didn’t have to cart this tone back across the pond) but at New Beer Distributors in New York, New York on 01-July-2016 for US$4,25 sampled at home in Washington on 24-September-2016.

Dark blond with thin head. Aroma is quite bready and also has sweet sugary fruits. Flavour is in general too sweet. Bready malts and a little yeast but lacks any real depth.

Bottle shared. Pours very hazy orange with brown sediment non-floaters. Aroma of yeast, caramel, soap, candy, light spice and toffee. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and light to moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Levendig donkergeel bier met veel stevig schuim. Smaak is zoet en kruidig, ietwat fruitig, abrikoos en kandij. Erg goed.

330 ml bottle into tulip glass, best before 12/2014. Highly carbonated gusher upon opening. Pours murky bright orange color with a 3 finger fluffy off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Dense foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a large amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of lemon, lime, orange peel, pear, apple, pepper, herbal, floral, grass, candi sugar, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good complexity and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, earthy hops, and light pale malt notes; with good strength. Very bright aromas. Taste of big lemon, lime, orange peel, pear, apple, pepper, herbal, floral, grass, candi sugar, light honey, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Good amount of earthy yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, lime, orange peel, pear, apple, pepper, candi sugar, light honey, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Nicely dry finish. Damn nice complexity and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, earthy hops, and light pale malt flavors; with a great crisp malt/yeast balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Very high carbonation and light-medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and foamy mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent Belgian strong pale ale. All around great complexity and balance of bright fruity/spicy yeast, earthy hops, and light pale malt flavors; and extremely smooth and crisp to sip on for the high ABV. With the combination of the difficult over carbonated pour and murky appearance, I was expecting this to taste old and malty; but it tasted spot on. A very enjoyable offering.

Blonde ale since 2009, referring to Mrs. Vandoorne who took over the brewery the year before. Snow white, creamy head, old gold colour with orangey glow, clear with fierce sparkling. Aroma of honey, young cheese, peach, butter, pineapple, caramel, apricot; sweetish taste, subdued fruitiness, applish and somewhat honeyish, supple and soft mouthfeel, flowery hops in the finish but not enough bitter to balance out the initial sweetness as well as a glow of warming, white port-like alcohol. Also tasted as a two years vintage bottle (shared with Craftmember), in which it showed a sourish quality, not unlike unripe gooseberry and a bit lemon, not unpleasant, let’s say a ’happy infection’...

Strong Belgian blond beer, with a body of sweet fruity yeast, some aroma hops and lots of added fruitiness. Nice beer.
