A Russian Imperial Stout is simply a stout with extra everything! Despite what the name suggests the beer was first brewed in 19th century England for export to the Russian court.
Our interpretation of this style is a brooding beer with a thick body and generous tones of liquorice, coffee and chocolate. A robust and complex beer best enjoyed in moderate amounts.

Bottle from HavnensVinOgTobak. Pours dark reddish brown with large light brown head. Aroma is intense malt, caramel, chocolate, coffee, prunes, sweet apple, malt syrup, honey, sweet liquorice and soy sauce. Taste is medium to very sweet, light bitter faint acidic and light salty. Body is creamy with soft carbonation. Finish is long and mostly sweet with notes of malt, caramel, chocolate, coffee, liquorice toffee and hints of soy sauce. Very pleasant.

0.33 l bottle shared with Caroline at the Royal Oak, Eskilstuna. Dark brown to black, small beige head. Heavy roasty, toasty, coffee and chocolate aroma. Rustical flavour, prunes, cocoa, some alcohol, burnt toast. Dry, bitter finish, medium body, quite easy going.

Bottle. Opaque black/brown with a nice beige head. Aroma of dark berries, roasted malts and some coffee. Taste of liquorice, dark fruits, soy sauce, roasted malts, caramel, toffee, some tobacco but very little in the way of chocolate. A pretty fruity stout. Moderate bitterness. Medium carbonation. Alcohol is well covered up but still pretty present. Ok but for some reason I had higher expectations. Woe is me.
