A Russian Imperial Stout is simply a stout with extra everything! Despite what the name suggests the beer was first brewed in 19th century England for export to the Russian court.
Our interpretation of this style is a brooding beer with a thick body and generous tones of liquorice, coffee and chocolate. A robust and complex beer best enjoyed in moderate amounts.

Near opaque reddish brown beer, foamy off white head. Smell is malty, chocolatey and a bit boozy. A little lively, with malt, chocolate, dried fruit, some anise. Rich and with boozy warmth. Tastes its strength but without the burn. Very nice.

Best before 04/12/2020, Batch 480; 330ml bottle, brewed with organic ingredients;
APPERANCE: deep brown, coffee like color with ruby glow under the light, mocca head with irregular bubbles
AROMA: fairly complex and rounded aromas, toasted sugars, dark caramel, bread crust, toasted bread, smooth roasted malts on the edges, slightly vinous (red wine tartness), dark cherries & berries, herbal & woody notes, cocoa powder, sweetened chocolate, hints of wormwood, caramelized onions and ash, well hidden alcohol with a gentle spicy note, hints of plum brandy
TASTE: smooth carbonation, medium to medium full body with oily & syrupy mouthfeel, moderately dry aftertaste with lingering roast character; moderate sweet onset of toasted sugars, licorice, melting caramel & syrup, mild dried fruits (prunes, raisins), surprisingly herbal in the middle, gentle medicinal notes, slowly growing bitterness from roasted malts and hops (medium strong) notes of burnt bread crust, ash & bitter barley coffee, chicory; hints of plum brandy & brown sugar in the aftertaste beside roastiness;
OVERALL: no flaws here, very well crafted and enjoyable, solid body & mouthfeel for 9,5% abv (nicely hidden); one of more herbal & spicy forward Russian Imperial Stouts in my textbook;

Bottle, 0.33l. Black pour, half finger creamy beige head. Medium retention, slight lacing on the glass. Roasted malt, cocoa and coffee on the nose, dried fruits in the background. Medium body, soft carbonation. Soft mouthfeel and texture, slightly oily, nice chewiness to it. Roasty bittersweet taste and aroma. Roasted malt, caramel, dried fruits. Cocoa, coffee, licorice. Lingering sweetness, slightly sticky. Alcohol is well hidden but it does builds up over time. Warming, slightly dry. Medium lasting finish, roasty. Good.

Täitsa viisakas impi. Üle pole kuskil pingutatud liialt. Ehk mõne jaoks on mõrudus liiga tugev, aga mulle see sobib. 3.8
