5oz sample at RFD DC pours a very murky black with some creamy, tan head. Nose has some burnt toast, molasses, burnt licorice, some odd citrus, a little couch. Flavor is all sweetness, some chocolate, mild citrus bitterness. Harsh finish. No thanks.

More on the dark chocolate side, with only a light hint of orange. Pours black with some mocha head and lacing. Toasty and a little sense of astringent orange peel. Medium bitter finish. Thick and creamy consistency. Tap for free at whole foods. Thanks, Mr. Foods.

From a 12 oz bottle shared in Avon NC. Pours black with a thin tan head. Aroma is bold roasted malt with almost a barrel aged character. Flavors of chocolate, a hint of orange and licorice. Nice balance, with the orange and chocolate remaining subtle throughout. Bitter roasted finish.

Bottle shared by Bruce, thanks for the opportunity! Solid dark brown with a stingy off white head. Aromas of milk chocolate and caramel with hints of earth. The flavor is mostly caramel and chocolate with a hint of citrus. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a creamy silky mouthfeel. Not a bad beer, but I would have liked a bit of orange as I found almost none.

Bomber from The Hoppy Dog in Richmond, VA. Pours a very dark brown color with a thin dark brown head. Average head retention. Aroma of chocolate, more chocolate, sweet roasted malts, faint citrus. The taste is chocolate, roasted malts, smoke, caramel, bitter hops and a faint bit of citrus if you really look for it. Medium-full bodied. Nice.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 8/18/12

Aroma: The nose is roasted malts, chocolate, spice, light fruit, and a decent amount of earth
Appearance: It pours a dark brown color with a small brown head, and some light lace on the glass
Flavor: Tastes fairly roasty, much like the nose, with a smooth, lightly sweet, and a light earthy hop flavor
Palate: Palate is much the same, feels smooth/oily, has a creamy, soft carbonation, and a medium body
Overall Impression: I didn't expect much from this beer, but that is my own prejudice. I just tend to assume that any Matt beer will be lower in quality. This is a legit beer that is well worth trying, and I rarely give a good score to Saranac beers.

Refrigerated 22 oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours opaque black with very small beige head that dissapates very quickly. Little lacing, medium body, low carbonation, Taste is burnt malt, dark chocolate, coffee, some alcohol, hint of orange, and bitter finish. Had high expectations, but the alcohol is not well covered and burnt flavor is not t my liking.
