Bottle. Pours a hazy amber brown with a tan head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of bread and dark grains with a hint of chocolate underlying. Flavor is mainly bread and grains with light notes of toffee and chocolate.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled 9/25/2012. Pours hazy reddish brown color with a nice 2 finger fairly dense light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of caramel, toast, toffee, apple, bread, grass, light chocolate, light citrus, light nuttiness, and herbal hops. Decent aromas with good strength and decent balance; too fruity. Taste of caramel, toast, toffee, bread, grass, light chocolate, roasted grain, light citrus, and herbal hops. Light herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, toffee, bread, grass, light chocolate, roasted grain, light citrus, and herbal hops on the finish for a short bit. Good flavor balance, but the flavor robustness is definitely lacking; zero cloying flavors are present on the finish, and quite dry on the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a slightly creamy, crisp, and lightly prickly mouthfeel that is ok. Alcohol is very well hidden with hardly any warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a decent brown ale. Very drinkable with solid flavor balance; but definitely could use more robustness of flavors, and a finish that is not as dry. A fairly enjoyable offering.

12 oz bottle purchased at Gomers in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. 212172 laser printed on the neck of the bottle. The pour is brown, with some ruby highlights when held to light. Nice, two inch light tan head which is quite retentive. Pretty lacing marks the glass as the head falls. The aroma is nutty roasty malt, along with a light fruit sweetness. Nice dry char mineral quality to the nose. The taste follows the nose nicely, the malt is dominant with roast, nut and cocoa-cherry fruit flavors. The mineral and ash hit the finish, and dry it out nicely. The palate is light to medium bodied, active carbonation and the ash lightly sweet finish. Nice brown, my favorite of the Mothers beers I have had so far.

Draft. Clear dark briwn color, small tan head, solid curtain of lacing. Arona if burnt peanuts. Taste is thick nutty caramel. Not bad.

Pour is a brown with a little red around the edges. Aroma is a decent chocolate malt with a little dark fruit. Flavor is a decent brown cereal malt with some low bitterness. Decent enough brown ale.
