On tap at the Trappist. Aroma has tons of spicy phenols. Lots of clove, coriander and grains of paradise. Some sweet malt notes. Light fruity esters - some citrus and pear and a hint of banana. Pours a nice pale, cloudy golden yellow with a moderately thick white head that steadily recedes. Decent lacing. Flavor has a nice grainy flavor with some cracker malt as well. Moderate to low phenolic notes, but lots of esters. Lot of fruitiness - peaches, dried apricots, some banana and juicy fruit notes. Moderately low bitterness. Low alcohol flavor and light fruity hop notes. Fairly sweet malt notes - sugary. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Very low astringency. Moderate to moderately high alcohol warmth. Overall pretty good. The ester notes are slightly different than expected and kind of enjoyable. The alcohol warmth is a bit strong. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Churchkey, DC tap ($9): Pours a hazy yellow with a white head. Aroma is spice, banana, ambiguous fruitiness, and some specific hops. Taste is much as expected. Mouthfeel very nice and smooth (not over-carbonated like some tripels). Small amount of sweetness. Mild and subtle hopping. Spiciness and pepper feel throughout. A nice tripel that takes a subtle approach.

Draft. Cloudy golden yellow color, small white head, solid lacing. Aroma of citrus, straw, hay, light spice. Taste is lemonpeel with light spice and a bitter finish. More interesting that your average tripel.
