Announcing Nine Pin 26er #5: Shaker Shaker Cider!
Near Albany International Airport, an ancient apple orchard still thrives. This historic orchard was planted by some of Albany's first settlers, The Shakers, back in the 1700's. Today, the apples from these trees can be picked, pressed, and fermented to produce incredible ciders.
This past fall, we connected with the Shaker Heritage Society to harvest the apples from their orchard. We spent a full day "shaking" these trees and ended up with enough fruit to produce a small batch of hard cider.
The cider consists of over 25 varieties of apples and has an ABV of 7%
