Draft sample at Schlafly Bottleworks. Deep garnet body, with a bit of off-white foam. Coffee and toffee smell. A bit of Guinness sourness over oatmeal smoothness. Taste has brought out the sausage in my brunch frittata. Finishes with toffee sweetness and light cherry.

12 fl oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a reddish hue and lacing head. Roasted and slight sweet malty aroma. Flavour is malty, slight grainy texture. Burned note, slight sweet to dry into the finish.

Sample at the Lambert St. Louis airport location. The beer is a nearly opaque dark brown color with a thick and foamy light beige head that burns off slowly. Patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt and milk chocolate, with a hint of mocha. Medium-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel. Sweet caramel malt, chocolate and grain flavors with traces of hops and coffee. The finish remains smooth (bordering on watery actually) and sweet with a lingering sweetness. Above average overall.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Courtesy of jsquire. Pours a deep, dark, reddish brown with a beige head. Lightly sweet, burned malt aroma. Quite light in body with dry, hard roasted malt accents and touches of vanilla and burned caramel. The finish is only lightly bitter. 180907

Dark brown color. Light wet cardboard aroma, light roated malt. Ordinary mouthfeel, with some dry caramel flavor, some chocolate malt and very light phenol. The final is also a bit warming. Not bad, but not my kind.

Well its a pretty fair oatmeal stout, but not at all among my favorites. Seemed quite a bit like a dry stout really. Poured a near opaque red-brown with a khaki head, very large and foaming, leaving foamy traces on the glass (I don’t want to call it lacing because it was too heavy and foamy looking). Dry roasted aroma and flavor, a touch of coffee. Dry finish. Not much rounded oily smoothness from the oatmeal, just a touch of astringency, which was accentuated by a carbonic bite.

Bottled, thanks beerhandy! Dark brown. Medium bodied and lightly roasty with clean mouthfeel. Lingering bitter, salty finish. Surprisingly neutral and spritzy.

A pleasant-enough beer, but smelled and tasted more like a good lager. Little roasted malt, jsut a touch of sweetness. Thin with lively carbonation and a slightly bitter aftertaste. Certainly, smooth. Not displeasing, but also nothing to distinguish it.

Pours a nice dark black. With a smallish tan head. Aroma is smoky and coffee. Flavor is coffee, chocolate, oats carmel,malts and vanilla. Lots of things to roll over the tounge on the way down. Very flavorful and pleasing. Schlafly’s best by a mile.

Dark brown coloured body with a lighter tan head. aroma of chocolate and coffee flavours. Medium-bodied; Strong malt taste with chocolate very noticeable. Chewy aftertaste with sweetness coming out of every tastebud. Overall, a very nice oatmeal, definately worth trying! I got this twelve ounce bottle from Phil (haddon90) in Knoxville, Tennessee...thanks again Phil!
