On tap at Apex, pours black with a small brown head. Aroma is of light roasted malts, espresso and a bit of chocolate - pretty standard nose for an impie. Flavour is fairly typical as well for the style, with lots of roasted malt, some chocolate, a Belgian twist with the yeast, and some fairly prominent hops. Quite full-bodied, characterized by the roasted malt, hops and Belgian quality. Standard stuff, but extremely proficiently made. Great one.

Draft, staff recommendation at Churchkey. Dark maroon color, small brown head. Aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla, light spice. Taste is smooth and rich coffee with chocolate syrup. Very nice.

A deep dark imperial stout with a thick resilient moka head. In aroma, an enticing chocolate and coffee aroma, enticing, pungeant. In mouth, a funkey chocolate with herbal touches, alcohol, lightly mentholated. A very classy example of the style. On tap at brewpub, April 2008.
