nose of burnt malt, and an odd sourness. some decent smokey flavours, but the sourness stays, and throws everything off, i didnt even finish it.

O:6.84 V:4.25 G:7.15 C:4.65 G:13.35 T: 36.24

Clear dark brown to black beer, creamy dense beige head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving some lacing in the glass. Aroma: very nice roast, sweetish, nice caramel, chocolate, some molasses and ashes. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty roasted start, quite some coffee, bit sweet, caramel, some dried fruits, ginger bread. Aftertaste: nice roast, pretty bitter, coffee and dark chocolate, lots of dry cocoa powder, gingerbread, almost burnt bitter finish.

On tap at Mondial de la bière Montréal 2015. A dark brown beer topped by a small, dark beige head. Lovely coffee aroma with some dark chocolate, a touch of licorice and brown sugar. Could be a bit more pronounced though, like the flavor is. It’s full-bodied, warming and smooth on the palate, with a nice carbonation level. Coffee, dark chocolate and some licorice in the flavor. Rather sweet, with the bitterness subdued. Lasting finish. A really lovely imperial stout I’d like to have again in a more quiet setting. 150611

Bottle - Lots of dark roast, dark chocolate, liquorice and I get some light hops. Deep jet black with a small but decent light brown head. Rich dark chocolate, nice roasty malts and a long rich finish. Hops are floating around in the background as well. This is a very nice and complex beer with lots of nice balanced notes and a great richness.

Black with ok head and lacing. Thick texture. Some musk and roast malt in aroma. Not a huge imperial stout - overall taste is a little light. Lacks character. A bit on the sweet side. Mocha head, soft carbonation. Black pour. On tap at Montreal brewpub on opening night.
