Abita Andygator®, a creature of the swamp, is a unique, high-gravity brew made with pilsner malt, German lager yeast, and German Perle hops. Unlike other high-gravity brews, Andygator® is fermented to a dry finish with a slightly sweet flavor and subtle fruit aroma. Reaching an alcohol strength of 8% by volume, it is a Helles Doppelbock. You might find it goes well with fried foods. It pairs well with just about anything made with crawfish. Some like it with a robust sandwich. Andygator® is also a good aperitif and easily pairs with Gorgonzola and creamy blue cheeses. Because of the high alcohol content, be cautious — sip it for the most enjoyment.

From a 650ml bottle on 17/8/2014 (shared by Butz with thanks). Pours a clear olden with a medium head. The aroma features some bready malt and honeyish notes. In the mouth, it’s quite sweet with more honey and some bready malt, finishing with a decent bitter kick and just a hint of alcohol. That said, it’s pretty easy drinking for 8%. Quite good.

Bottle, 8C. Gold with a white head that never quite disappears. Aroma of mild and grainy with some honey and floral notes. Sweet and grainy, some apricots. Gently leans towards dry. Modest bitterness, vague floral notes linger. Alcohol is pretty well hidden. Interesting - strikes me as maybe a tad cheap on the ingredient side but rather well put together.

Bottle: Pours clear, brassy gold with a tall, off-white head. Aroma is breadheel, fruitcake. Flavour is sweet, bready malt, corn... Grass and alcohol bitter. Not very good.

Bottle. A- Grains, hay. A- Orange color, clear liquid, white head. T- Corn, grains, slightly sweet, malty, subtle bitterness. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, malty finish. O- For being 8%, the alcohol isn’t noticeable. It really just tastes like an average lager. A little on the sweeter side, but far from being anything to get excited about.

Bottle. Pours a clear gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has notes of musty grain with a bit of sweetness and a hint of grass. Flavor is similar with musty grains and grass as well as a touch of sweetness.

For some reason I thought I was getting into something else. This pours lagery golden blonde with ok head and lacing. Some booze and some nice prominent malt. Liberty hops work well for style. Booze evident but doesn’t taste as strong as you would think. Ok if this is your thing - better than drinking 40s. Tap at some bar.

12 ounce bottle. Bright amber gold color. Big rocky white head. Light toasted malt aroma with a metallic note. Bittersweet toasted malt with light fruit undertones. Light body and flavor overall. Not very much like a doppelbock. Warming alcohol finish.

Bottle. Corn malt and lemon aroma. Golden yellow with nice white head. Sweet corn malt and moderately astringent alcohol flavor. More like a malt liquor - and not even a very good one.
