A walloping Double IPA, Illumination is immensely bitter yet unfathomably well balanced. Copious amounts of Centennial, Chinook, and Simcoe hops give it a citrusy mouthful of tropical pineapple and mango. Nicely rounded with toasty malts for gentle sweetness. Here's to all you hopheads!

Super hazy deep honey coloured body with a bright copper glow and a gold tint, all with a two centimetre thick dense off-white head. Aroma of pungent pine and very resinous hops with a hint of citrus and a lot of malt and alcohol perceptible. Full-bodied; Strong dense malt flavour with a good sweet and resinous flavour with a ton of piney, herbal, grassy and almost sprucey hop flavour - the hops really shine here. Aftertaste is very well balanced with a bunch of sweetness, a lot of malt punch, a good note of alcohol and the hop bitterness which dominates even 5 minutes after a sip. Overall, a great Imperial IPA - definitely one worth trying if you can find it! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Discount Liqour in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on 05-September-2012 for US$2.99 sampled at home in Washington on 02-December-2012.

12 ounce bottle. Hazy amber gold color topped by a big bubbly off-white head. Aroma of herbal hops, vanilla and bubblegum. Lots and lots of hops bombard the palate. Resiny hops with a chewy mouthfeel. Some citrus hop character. Could use a bit more maltiness to help balance out this brew. a long bitter peppery finish.

12 oz. bottle, pours a cloudy orange with a medium beige head. Aroma is citrusy hops and pungent tropical fruits mainly, with a generous backing of caramel malt. Flavour of citrus hops, grapefruit, some pineapple, a bit of resin, and buttery caramel malt to back. Very little astringency considering this is supposedly 108 IBUs. Low-to-medium sweetness. Excellent.

Pours an orange-copper color with little by way of head. Aroma is very strong with floral and hop. Flavor is quite biting--lots of citrus and strong hop bitterness. Finish is quite bitter as well.

Dunkel hopfiger Antrunk, der bereits einen gewissen Alkoholgehalt erkennen lässt. Zitrus, dunkles Malz, aromatischer, sich aber unterordnener Hopfen. Vollmundig, in Teilen sogar recht schwer. Grapefruit, fruchtig-würzig, weiterhin angenehmer Hopfen. Ein wenig scharf, zum Ende steigt der Hopfenanteil und bietet auch grasige Noten. Gut! 8/11/11/12/10/12

Draft at Old Fashioned. Filtered orange-amber color. Thin, patchy head. Pleasant citrus grapefruit aroma..mayeb some Summit action as well. Bold and hoppy, the fruity citrus hop tones are quite nice. Clean body, not syrupy or sticky. All out hop barrage. Well done, certainly above par for a WI IIPA.

Bottle: Poured a bright light orangey color ale with a nice off-white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of citrus notes with some bitter hops. Taste is not as bitter as expected with some citrus notes and a sweeter then expected caramelized malt base. Body is quite with a nice creamy texture and good carbonation. Well brewed though not as floral or bitter as I would have expected.
