In this northern German style retro altbier, we’ve dialled down the dry-hops to zero, but cranked up the malt to create massive aromas. Toasty, toffee and floral notes duke it out for supremacy in the headspace of your glass.
When this alt hits your palate, the steely bitterness combines with the rich dry malt and the subtle alcohol warmth in a full throttle attack on your taste buds.
Malts: Carafa, Extra Pale, Munich
Hops: Hersbrucker, Magnum

Bottle from Cork & Cask. Clear amber body with a diminishing beige head. Faint lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, tea and wood. Flavour of toffee, dried fruits and earth. Thin body with a watery texture. Light fizz. Very mild - quite an ’un-BrewDog’ beer.

Courtesy of and shared with ogivlado. Thanks! Poured a lovely red-amber body with a small white head. Fresh, creamy, simple effective sweetish malty aroma. The taste is basically a similar, nicely fresh creamy maltiness that ends up in a slightly dull bitter hoppy finish, which ever so slightly clashes with everything else. Extremely weak herbal notes. Still, it’s a good beer. Nothing too special, but nicely drinkable.

Bottle, 0.33l. Pours opaque dark brown with medium creamy off-white head and average sparkling appearance. Aroma is bready, grassy, papery, fruity and with notes of caramel. Taste starts with moderate sweet caramel and toasted malt, follows by licorice, herbs and fruits, while mouthfeel is moderate bitter. Medium body, oily texture and average carbonation in palate. Pleasantly bitter caramel brew...

(bottle, 33cl) Clear, dark amber colour with a beige medium-sized foamy head. Slightly toasted and delicately ashy malty aroma with subtle berry-fruity notes and a touch of hoppy spice. Moderately sweet-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Dry and mildly toasted malty base with notes of caramel, hints of cacao, berries and present herbal hoppy spice; quite lingering toast-malty, herbal hoppy and mildly fruity finish. A well-crafted interpretation of the style. 09.III.15

Bottle, 330 ml from Pivoljub, Ljubljana. Pours dark amber with off-white head. Malty caramel, nutty, maybe bit smokey. Quite nice although I’m not fan of this style.
