Climb on in and grab a paddle. Our first foray into lagered beers, Blue Paddle Pilsener-Lager, is a Czech style pilsener with a refreshing crispness from noble hops and a rich, malty finish. Blue Paddle refers to the implement our warehouse manager's Grandma once used to lovingly paddle his a** when she caught him stealing sips of her beer. With more body than a traditional Belgian pils, Blue Paddle is reflective of Europe’s finest pilseners.

Bottle pour. Pours golden with a grassy aroma. Not really a stand out pilsener here. Pretty bland, but tastes alright overall. Sweet malt flavor and finish, with some grassy flavor too. This one was alright. Decent summer time beer.

Sampled on draft this beer poured a dark golden color with a huge foamy yellow-white head that lingered and left great lacing. The aroma was tangy, sweet and malty with a bit of sour mash, vague fruity hops and almost Pez. The flavor was tangy with mild bitterness, crisp fruity and floral hops and a bit of perfume and grass. Medium length finish.Medium body. Disappointing.

12oz bottle pours with a crystal clear bright gold body that supports an off white head. The mild aroma offers up some lightly sweet pilsner like malts as well as faint floral hops. Not nearly as pungent as I was expecting. The taste is much fuller than the nose led onto with a nice pilsner malt sweetened hop bite that’s floral and a touch lime before it gets into a pleasing degree of hop bitterness. It leaves that classic pilsner malty sort of hoppy after taste. Solid pils that could use a bit more aromatics.

Total Wine, Fairfax 12oz: Pours golden with white head. Aroma is a bit of grass and grain and a tad bit of that sugar. Taste is lightly sweet, with sustained hop bitterness. Nice mild lager aftertaste. Easy drinking and nice and sessionable.
