Climb on in and grab a paddle. Our first foray into lagered beers, Blue Paddle Pilsener-Lager, is a Czech style pilsener with a refreshing crispness from noble hops and a rich, malty finish. Blue Paddle refers to the implement our warehouse manager's Grandma once used to lovingly paddle his a** when she caught him stealing sips of her beer. With more body than a traditional Belgian pils, Blue Paddle is reflective of Europe’s finest pilseners.

Mushroomy barley malt nose. Exceptionally clear golden, medium head. Clean, weak malt flavor.Biscuit finish.

A blonde pils with a thin white head. In aroma, herbal crisp ,alt with herbal notes, light fruityness. In mouth, a nice crisp biscuit malt, with nice grassy German hops, nice and refreshing. On tap at New Belgium Hub at DIA, August 7 2012.

12 ounce bottle from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a clear golden color with a large creamy white head. Good head retention. Aroma of big grassy notes and faint crackery malts. The taste is bready malts, stone fruits and lots of grassy notes. Medium bodied.

Clear golden with a white head and a bit of lacing. A bit of sweet malts, earthy, grass. Medium bodied. Flavor is grassy hops, lightly sweet malts, and a bit of lemony fruit. Crisp. Pretty good summer drinker.

12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a clear gold with about a finger of white head. Aroma of malt and very light hops. Taste is very light bitter. Crystal malt and light hops. Light bodied and thin textured. Lively carbonation and not much of a finish. Overall, not bad. I’ll enjoy this one but wont’ be buying it again.

12 oz bottle. Best by Feb 12, 2012. Pours a clear deep old gold color with a smallish white collapsing head; leaves a soapy ring of foam and some lace. The Olympia I had before this looked better! Aroma consists of creamed corn, grain, metal, SweeTarts. Taste starts out lightly sweet but ends on a pleasant bitter note. Carbonation is fairly soft and the body is medium. A really decent pilsener.

Draft at DIA. Pale yellow color, small white head, solid lacing. Aroma of hay and lemon peel. Taste is smooth mild bitterness and subtle lemon peel.

on tap prior to session @GABF-pours yellow/gold with a white head and trailing lace. Aroma is grain, grassy. Taste is sweet grain, 2nd grassy/spice hops. Easy.

Aroma: A fairly light nose with some clean herbal and grassy hops, citrus notes and some malts
Appearance: Clear golden with a lasting foamy bright white head, heavy lacing, and lots of movement
Flavor: The taste is lightly sweet, and lightly bitter, fairly balanced, and with a crisp hoppiness to it
Palate: The body is light, but not really watery, and it has a crisp, clean, and rather drinkable mouthfeel to it
Overall Impression: This isn’t a great beer by any means, but it is a clean and refreshing Pilsener. I could see using this one as an above average lawn mower beer. It isn’t at the top of the style, but I couldn’t find any major gripes with it either. The pour is a nice plus too, with a clean and filtered appearance and a head the never seems to dissipate. Honestly, I think I liked this one more then most others seem to have.
