Alaskan White Ale is based on a Belgian-style witbier, literally translated to “white beer.” White beers, or “witbieren,” are named for the suspended wheat proteins creating a cloudy appearance in this unfiltered beer.

Got in a trade with swingracex. 12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 4/12/2013. Pours hazy golden straw color with a 1 finger foamy white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin lace that lingers for a bit. Minimal lacing on the glass. Aromas of pear, coriander, orange peel, wheat, light pepper, light clove, floral, and yeast earthiness. Ok aromas with decent balance and complexity; but there is not much going on here other than the spicing. Taste of pear, coriander, orange peel, wheat, pepper, light clove, floral, and earthy yeast spiciness. Lingering notes of light fruit, coriander, orange peel, wheat, pepper, floral, and earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Good balance of spice/malty flavors, without feeling watery; and no cloying flavors present after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth and fairly crisp mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a solid witbier. Solid balance of flavors and easy to drink; just really not all that exciting. Enjoyable stuff.

A substandard wit. It looks the part, nearly white. Low carbonation. Minimal aroma, what is there matches the style, but it is very light. Flavor is also light, lacking the wheat sweetness this beer should have. Just a hint of coriander. It is drinkable, but has little to offer.

On tap at Flyig Saucer. Pours a cloudy orange with a small creamy white head with sticky lacing. The aroma is citrus and wheat. Thin mouthfeel with a fruity malt and orange peel. Easy to drink a very good Belgian wit from Alaskan

12 oz bottle. Pours golden with a white head and lots of fine particles. Soapy orange peel and lemon aroma, distinct oregano in there. flavor also has lemon and orange peel, oregano, lavender. It kind of works, but not totally.

Purchased at Breeze Thru Liquors in Milwaukee, WI; enjoyed at home after getting some holiday shopping done. Appearance a pale yellow/gold without much head, tiny carbonation bubbles rising to the top. Aroma of clove, a touch of spice, smells yeasty, a bit of citrus, it does smell a bit bland. Taste of lemon citrus, apricot, a bit tart, not too bad but not really that good.

Light golden coloured body with a nice hazy glow and a very thin off-white head. Aroma of light spices, coriander seed, bananas and a bit of yeast. Medium-bodied; Nice sweet and spicey flavour with some mellow malt tastes and a herbal kick. Aftertaste shows more of a pronounced yeastiness with a little wheat and some alcohol coming through. Overall, a decent wit, but nothing amazing - still nice to try, being in Alaska. I sampled this twelve ounce stubby bottle purchased from a Gas Station in Glitter Gulch (Denali National Park), Alaska on 25-June-2010.
