Pale Ale ignited a craft beer revolution. You could even say it saved an industry from extinction. Heavy on hops, with intense aromas of pine and citrus, balanced by smooth caramel malt .

Draft at the source. Clear yellow color, small white head, nice lacing. Aroma of grass and pine. Taste is similar, mildly bitter and crisp throughout. An APA with IPA characteristics.

(11/16/08) Draught sample at the brewpub in Philadelphia. Clear deep golden color. Aroma of floral hops and hints of butter. Sweetish flavor, a bit malty in the start, continues bitter and hoppy with some citrus. Medium-bodied. Decent.

on tap-pours a big foamy to rocky off white head and amber color. Aroma is nice sweet citrus/cascade hops. Taste is citrus/cascade hops-some bitter, a bit flat/metallic- a bit over boiled?, secondary medium malt. Mild carbonation.

On tap at the philly brewpub. Smells like an IPA, floral hop aroma. The taste however is a little more laid back than the Palasades ale I tasted earlier. The color of my sample was quite lighter than is shown here. This is bitter, but not in your face bitter like an IPA. Rather controlled with the hop bite. Just enough hops to let you know it is an ale with personality. Medium bitter hop finish.

Krooks Mill must have been the old name for this beer - its now just the Manayunk American Pale Ale. Typical APA: copper colored with crisp, citric, floral cascade aroma and flavor. Nice maltiness - very good balance, and good hoppiness.
