Dark and Dry is made with a blend of apples and champagne yeast but caramelized sugar is added just before filtering to impart a deep bronze tone. White sugar is used in the Amber Cider.

Bottle at Chef Geoff’s, served without a glass (really??). Clear amber color. Aroma of dried old apple skins. Taste is dry and mildly fruity. Scant carbonation. Mediocre.

Pours clear amber into a shaker. Bright white head quickly recedes to hug rim. Honey and nutmeg aromas. Crisp, sweet apple front to back with a spritzy apple finish.

Sampled from a 12 oz green bottle this cider poured a dark caramel-amber color with a small white head. The aroma was lightly mild tart apple. The flavor was light tart apples and a touch of caramel. The finish was short, tart apple. Ok.

Overall Impression: I like this a bit more then the Amber Draft Cider, its not bad. Has some interesting stuff going on for a cider, and to me it's a little less sweet then the Amber, which may explain my preference.

12 oz. bottle. Hey, it’s okay. Pours amber with no head, but you can just hear it fizzing. Light apple smell, but at least none of the strange chemical smells from other bottled ciders. Taste is a very basic apple with a bit of alcohol to start. Then a hint or two of cinnamon. Tartness is about that of a Red Delicious. Carbonation is slight, enough keeps things interesting and maybe slow me down from slamming it. Finish is just to the dry side. Probably as good as a mass-distribution cider can be.

Bottle: Pours a crystal clear golden color with no head. Nose is faintly sweet and bits of apple. Tastes tart and dary with more apple. Not real intense in flavor, but still pleasant.

Pours a light burnt golden with a white ring of head and some lacing. Aroma of brown sugar, red apples that were a bit too ripe. Taste is interesting in that it is both cloying and tart over the duration. Taste is apple juice, not really cidery. Light carbonation with a bit of sticky-sweet mouthfeel.

Dark amber color. Moderate carbonation. Aroma and taste are apple juice. Pure apple juice. Some subtle carbonation feel, but really, it’s just apple juice. Not very dark or very dry and slightly tart in the finish. Bottle from a sampler.

Pours light amber with white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma of sour apples. Tastes like tart apple juice. Light to medium body with average carbonation. Ovedrall I thought this was pretty good.

Aroma is a pleasant, warm, overripe apple aroma. A crisp, clean aroma. The color is caramel/amber and the white head left some lace spots while leaving. Rather thin in body with very mild carbonation. The flavor is slightly caramel Granny Smith. The finish is almost pear, but quite certainly dry. It’s very good, and not at all like a cooked apple product. Another great Woodchuck product.
