Pours a dark brown color with a small creamy beige head. Nose is mostly dark malt with a decidedly roasted note. Flavor is roasted malt with hints of burnt caramel, dark chocolate and light hops. Some boozy notes, but nicely balanced overall. A bit Porter-like.

Cask at Appalachian, Collegeville, 29/11/13. Mid black with a good sized tan head. Nose is roast malt, chocolate streak, toffee fudge, light booze notes, earthy, brown bread. Taste comprises bitter dark chocolate, brown sugars, chocolate biscuit, toffee fudge. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, light woody boozey vein at the business end. Ok stuff, though this came over more as a stout possibly of the imperial variety.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Norm's, 5/17/12
Aroma: The nose has yeast, wood, dark fruits, and a little sour cherry
Appearance: It pours a dark brown color with a small light brown head and light, drippy lace
Flavor: The taste has similar components to the nose and mixes light sourness and sweetness
Palate: This beer is medium bodied, with a lively carbonation, and a longish duration
Overall Impression: This was a solid beer. It had some interesting components to it, and I found it to be a solid, if imperfect attempt. They did a solid job with this one.

Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a very dark brown color with a small foamy tan head that faded and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was dryish and toasty with notes of soy sauce, faint cocoa, smoke and wood. The flavor was bitter and nutty with some caramel and a hint of ripe dark fruits and a smoky undertone. The finish was long with nut, caramel and smoke lingering. Moderately full bodied and smooth. Decent.
